Liberty Lake Residence
The passive-solar design for this new house on Liberty Lake takes advantage of the site's southern orientation for both heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. The design makes extensive use of sustainable and durable materials to reduce both the impact of construction and overall life cycle costs. Both interior and exterior materials were chosen for aesthetics, durability and renew-ability with a focus on interior materials that improve air quality. Fossil fuel consumption is dramatically reduced by means of an efficient mechanical system and generous amounts natural light. The durable exterior materials give the house a substantial presence while reducing the need for repairs, lowering total energy consumption.
