Deck and arbor addition

 

The existing deck at this 40's era Capitol Hill home lacked any protection from the weather. The new arbor extends the interior living space into the outdoors, blurring the line between the two. The form of the arbor sheds water to utilize the existing gutters. The arbor is covered with a translucent paneling to protect the deck from light rain but allow light to filter through.
